# Cost Center

Cost Center is a fundamental element that allows organizations to allocate and track costs or income within specific segments of their operations. Essentially, it serves as a tool for evaluating the financial performance of distinct areas, functioning not only as a cost-tracking mechanism but also as a Profit Center.

### Create New Cost Center

1. Open **Finance Administration Workspace** Select **Cost Center** Doctype, or find it with Search Bar&#x20;

2. Select **+Add Cost Center**&#x20;

3. Fill Parent Cost Center

4. Fill Cost center name with format (Cost Center ID-Project Number-ProjectID) > Save&#x20;
